About Charles
Charles's path from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest, and eventually to the Southwest, gave him a broad perspective that shapes how he approaches his practice today. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, he headed west after finishing his undergraduate degree at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and went on to attend Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. After living and working in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona for several years, Charles began visiting New Mexico. After visiting New Mexico several times, he decided to move there in 2022 and become part of the community. Before joining the family law community, Charles clerked at several law firms that practiced general civil law and gained incomparable legal experience in several practice areas.
Charles' firm focuses on family law, small business law and personal injury law, a deliberate choice that draws on the hands-on experience he built clerking across civil practice areas. Since family law is Charles' focus, he knows that divorce and child custody disputes can be among the hardest things a person experiences. Charles approaches each case with strategy and patience so clients feel supported and informed at every stage of the process. Charles also handles small business and personal injury matters.
When it comes to family law matters, Charles is a strong advocate for his clients, fighting hard for their interests at every turn. At the same time, Charles realizes that in certain cases, a settlement-based approach may be necessary. Choosing the right lawyer is extremely important, and at The Law Office of Charles A. Scott, Charles is a steadfast advocate for his clients and always handles his cases with professionalism and respect.
Outside of work, Charles enjoys hiking, tennis, kayaking, and traveling, along with spending time with his Miniature Schnauzer, Wendy.
